Fashion Bloggers in Chelsea

Fashion Bloggers in Chelsea

On May 16th, I went along to the inaugural 30-40+ Blogger Meet which proved to be an inspiring event. It was held at the Imperial in Chelsea on the King’s Road and for me it was a walk down memory lane as I returned to this well-heeled neighbourhood, my stomping ground of the late 1990’s.   I was so excited to meet like-minded chic and savvy women of my generation in one of the most stylish areas of London.

The event was sponsored by the over 40 fashion brand Hope and was hosted by Catherine Summers, award winning over 40 style blogger of Not Dressed as Lamb and certainly a style icon in the 40+ blogging world.  I just couldn’t wait to meet her and her “girl squad” of bloggers.

Passionate Fashion Writers

On arrival, I was struck by the passion and the affinity that all of these women had with their clothes and personal style.  Also all were clearly on a mission to have fun while making connections and friends.  I felt welcome at once. These women were vibrant and feminine, who dressed loudly and alternatively, irrespective of their age.  There was not one person in the room who had made a name for themselves in the fashion blogging world by jumping on fashion trends; all were refreshingly individual.

I met Rachel Lankester, the editor and founder of the smart and feisty online hub, The Mutton Club. Her passion is to make women feel good about themselves at whatever age they are and particularly in midlife. And the gorgeous Rowena Howie from Revival Retro.

Annette Höldrich, blogger of Lady of Style had flown in from Southern Germany for the event.  I was thrilled to meet her having admired her online for her impeccable and elegant style.

I made a beeline for Elizabeth of What Lizzy Loves, having loved and followed her since I started blogging early this year.  She had such natural grace and charm along with possibly the longest pins imaginable.

Naturally, such an amazing event bringing bloggers together will initiate lots of great articles about the event, so find out more by checking out:The Barefaced Chic,  Funky FortyKeeping it Fabulous, No Fear of Fashion, and Life begins to name just a few.

Suzi (65+) was the first person I met and she really stood out from the crowd.  We immediately connected as ironically we have a mutual special place, Byron Bay in Australia in common.  In 1997-8, I lived and worked in Byron Bay and adored it as I soaked up the bohemian lifestyle. I learned to scuba dive there and now have 100 dives under my belt and it’s also the place that I got engaged.

It was such a fun filled event and I can’t wait for the next one! In the meantime, I will be conducting a series of interviews with the celebrity Fashion Blogging cast at the event starting with Suzi Grant, an advocate of ageing gracefully and healthily and blogger of Alternative Ageing.
